Children are such curious creatures. They explore, question and wonder, and by doing so, learn. From the moment of birth, likely before, humans are drawn to new things. When we are curious about something new, we want to explore it. And while exploring we discover.’ Dr Bruce Perry
At our Nursery, we engage, inspire and motivate through the implementation of a curriculum built on the INSPIRE Curriculum Intent and the Curiosity Approach in which:
Innovative learning experiences are presented with a focus on authentic and natural resources which respect the environment. Children thrive through a creative provision that offers the freedom to choose, challenge and opportunities to explore their senses.
Nurture through reassurance, encouraging smiles and positive reinforcement supports all children, particularly the most vulnerable. Schema are considered, planned for and offered at all invitations to play so that developmental milestones can be met or exceeded. Cultural identity is celebrated through provision that reflects our diversity.
Success is enabled by building provocations that respond to child interest, encouraging new learning through imaginative play, communication and the exploration of our incredible world. Developing knowledge, concepts and skills are celebrated so that children have a true sense of their own achievements.
Passion, motivation and behaviours for learning are strong as the provision secures high levels of engagement. Practitioners apply deep questioning to check understanding through a Bloom model linked to INSPIRE; bimonthly CPD supports secure pedagogical approaches, providing practitioners with the expert knowledge they need to effectively plan for and engage with all children.
Integrity in sharing and discussing experiences, assessments and progressions against the EYFS framework captured through Tapestry, supports an open and two-way dialogue with patents.
Responsibility for planning that is both coherently structured but responsive to assessment and adaptable, builds the cultural capital to support success in transition and an integrated and connected approach to learning that takes head of cognitive load theory.
Excellence is achieved through bespoke provision where vocabulary is enriched and opportunities for communication and language along with personal, social, emotional and the characteristics of effective learning are prioritised. Daily Makaton and books that support each learning zone, including the deconstructed interest crates, inspire engagement with their worlds and imagination.
See for yourselves how we truly do weave the dreams of our curious learners.
